Open Source CMS
What is an open source CMS? How many are there? Which one is best? Which one should I pick? These are all very valid questions.
Various reports have shown that there are over 1500 content management systems available today. Many are commercial, and many are open source. It would seem near to impossible to pick one and feel comfortable with what it provides. So, how do you pick an open source CMS?
We recommend that you evaluate a small handful of systems that match your criteria for developing your site or project. Some simple searches will yield you the more popular choices, such as Plone, Drupal, Joomla, Lenya, Mambo, Django, etc. Each product has it's own feature set, platform requirements, developer needs, and is written using a variety of languages, such as Python, PHP, Perl, Java, etc. We have experience with many of these languages and can use that experience to help you analyze these products.
This task is a large task, and we would like to help you with it. Please contact us with your project details, any products that you are familiar with, and your preferences, and we will help you analyze what each product provides and how it matches your requirements.
We specialize in the Zope/Plone platform, and are obviously biased toward it due to the power and flexibility it provides. Given a project to analyze your requirements, we would like the opportunity to present Plone and it's features to you.
